Nokia X has made it to the Indian market already but that’s just one
of the three phones that currently belong to the ‘X’ family. The other
two are expected to be launched in a period of 60 days, jointly forming
the family of phones running on Nokia’s new X Software. The Nokia X and
Nokia X+ are closely matched, so let’s have a look at what the two
Nokias offer.
Design: From the outside, both the Nokia X and Nokia
X+ share the same design. Identical to each other, the polycarbonate
body of the two phones is slightly curved at the edges and is
reminiscent of what Nokia Lumia and Asha offer.
Display: Both phones offer a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display with a pixel density of 233ppi.
Hardware: There’s a slight variation here. The Nokia
X and X+ are powered by a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 SoC,
but while the X gets 512MB of RAM, the X+ gets a marginally larger 768MB
of RAM. Both phones get 4GB of internal memory and a microSD slot for
expansion up to 32GB.
Software: The X and X+ both run Nokia X Software,
which is a forked version of Android OS. The X Software can run apps via
Nokia Store, and via third party marketplaces. Also, developers can
port most of their Android apps on Nokia X software, just by replacing
Google API with Nokia API. The X Software also boasts Windows Phone like
interface, and Fastlane for multi-tasking.
Camera: Both Nokia X and Nokia X+ use a 3-megapixel primary camera. It can also record 480p video at 30 frames per second.
Battery: There’s no comparison to be made in the
battery front too, as both devices get a 1,500mAh battery, which Nokia
claim to offer about up to 10.5 hours of talktime on 3G.
Talking about 3G, both phones are 3G ready and come with dual-SIM
support. It’s evident that Nokia hasn’t made the X and X+ too different
from each other, with RAM being the sole difference between the two.
